Recently, I have just launched the Web Scraping Crawler, an online service that will facilitate many online web companies to extract and aggregate automatically relevant data for them like products, articles, news, comments and discussions from other websites. By this way, we want to enable the web developers and web business to have access to an affordable and efficient Scraping Service. In order to use the Web Scraping Crawler, you just need to contact us providing the URLs of the websites you want to crawl and which data you want to extract. Our technology, Web Scraping Crawler will detect the data content that is relevant for you and it will either generate JSON/XML files or it will upload the content directly on your website.

Motivational speaker at Forbes 30 under 30 Bulgaria Forum

Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu speaking at Forbes Bulgaria 30 under 30

Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu speaking at Forbes Bulgaria 30 under 30

On 28th September, I have attended as a motivational speaker to the Forbes Bulgaria 30 under 30 Forum. It was a great experience and for the first time I had an official translator namely Zaharinova who helped me with Bulgarian. At this summit, I have talked about my passion for computers and technology, VisionBot Pick and Place machines, and SkyHub – which is my new startup that is a forum web platform to connect people worldwide and allow them to change the world tofether. SkyHub has not yet launched officially, but I suppose that in the next couple weeks I will really launch it to the public. I trully believe that a web platform that only contains users’ content can be exponential and can have a billion people impact.

Forbes Bulgaria welcomed me very well and it was a very exiting conference, especially to see the similarities and differences between the Romanian societies and Bulgarian ones. I could see that the model and the system that exists in Romania is almost exactly the same within Bulgarian one. The only major difference is definitely the language, Bulgarian is based on slavic, meanwhile Romanian is based on latin and francophone. In the end the conference was interesting and definitely I will attend it next year in case I get invited again.

Singularity University GSP Global Solutions Program impressions

I have just finished the three months Singularity University Global Solutions Program held in Silicon Valley at NASA Moffett Research Park. It has been a long time since I wrote something on my personal blog. The reason why I coudln’t find time to write on my blog is determined by the fact I have been working on building a new startup from scratch. This time, the new startup is a web platform and it is called (temporarly) SkyHub . SkyHub is a forum platform to connect people world wide by allowing them to discuss on new forums technology adapted to the year of 2016. I have been mostly working on SkyHub – the new project of mine during the Singularty University GSP Global Solutions Program. SkyHub was not launched yet and it will still take me at least one month to launch it to the public.

First time, when I heared about Singularity University and the GSP – Global Solutions Program was during INK Talks 2015, in Mumbai, India where everybody was talking about Singulartity University at the conference. I knew a lot about Ray Kurzweil, especially the fact that I got invited by Paralela 45, a Romanian book publisher who translated a few books of Ray in Romanian, and they invited me to talk about two of Ray’s books at Gaudeamus – Romanian biggest book exhibition. So in December last year, I surfed on the internet to read more about SU and this made me to decide to apply for it. I have applied in February-March (I don’t remember exactly) and I got an email in April for a video interview. I did an informal video interview with Nik Giatis and in May I got accepted by SU with a full scholarship offered by Google that worth 35,000 USD. This year, Singularity University hosted 79 guys from 30+ countries to attend the Global Solutions Program and to learn about exponential technologies. It has been a nice 3 months summer camp being hosted at NASA Moffett Research Park in Mountain View and I can only appreciate the Singularity University stuff who was super friendly and helpful for us.

In the first day when I arrived at the Singularity University, I met my SU buddy who is Sourav Sinha – a great guy and entrepeneur passionated about space and medicine who works for a VC firm in Boston.

After 4-5 weeks of lessons about new hot technologies, we have to form small teams and create projects at SU. I was and I am still passionated about building a web social platform and that’s is the reason why I searched to form a team working on a web platform that belives in web technologies can scale up very fast. Also I started working on SkyHub only 2 weeks before I arrived at Singularity University.  After searching a long time for my teammates, at Singularty University, I met Edwin Arturo Rivas who become one of my best friends. Both of us worked like crazy during the Global Solutions Program on a social platform called Yooly which can be described as a SkyHub for building communities that seek solutions for big challenges. I really appreciate Edwin for his dedication and energy spent on working with me and Carolina on Yooly. I learned a lot from Edwin especially of how to release a web platform in order to gain the network effect. I am not sure, if I will be able to replicate the network effect process, but definitely I will try it multiple times because I trully believe in social platforms. We were so obsessed with the idea of building a new social platform that we slept in the last 30 days in the office every night in bean bags, watched the movie The Social Network at least 20 times and become experts at foosball. SU didn’t appreciate Yooly or SkyHub much because unfortunately they don’t have a clear vision about power of web platforms and they don’t understand how web platforms have a real impact on the the world. They are more interested on human compelling projects.

After the program was finished, me, Edwin and Sourav spent 3-4 extra days in Mountain View and San Francisco and definitely we become the best friends ever, exactly like in the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots except we didn’t have Chatur ‘Silencer’ Ramalingam.

Singularity University is a very nice place to be, an excellent informal education school to discover exponential technologies, but unfortunately they are not really focused on web – software. I hope we will make a major reunion after 10 years.

First International VisionBot Shipping to … United Kingdom

Two days ago we shipped a VisionBot SMT Pick and Place machine with 29 automatic feeders to Waverley, United Kingdom. Our customer is building servo controllers, DCC modules, multipanels and models for railway enthusiasts. The VisionBot has already arrived in United Kingdom, but the customer wants to receive the VisionBot package Monday morning. The VisionBot PnP is packed and ready configured for PCBA Productions. He is looking to assembly and sell over 4000 PCBs per month with our automatic Pick and Place machine. Right now I was configuring a new VisionBot PnP machine that will be shipped nationally to a customer from Romania Tuesday.

We decided to change our nozzles and to opt for professional Juki Nozzles and Juki Holder. For now on, the VisionBot PnP machines will come up with 4 Juki Nozzles. We are very confident that this decision of using Juki Nozzles will increase the quality of our PCBA process and to make VisionBot an affordable, but in the same time a professional SMT Pick and Place machine.

We released a new Software Update that allows our users to imports Centroids XYR data directly from:

  • Altium
  • Cadence Allegro
  • KiCAD
  • Cadence OrCAD
  • CadSoft EAGLE
  • CSV files and TXT raw files

We uploaded a new video showing the configurations needed to do for the Top and Bottom Computer Vision and how to start a PCBA process with our machine.

Cisco Live Berlin Exhibition

Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu exhibition Cisco Live Berlin VisionBot

Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu presenting VisionBot at the Cisco Live Berlin exhibition

In Lisbon, last year we got a special prize from Cisco at the Junior Achievement  European Enterprise Challenge. The Technopreneurship award from Cisco is a chance to exhibit your product in one of their exhibitions over the world. I could choose to exhibit in one of their 5 different location from November to February 2016. Unfortunately it was quite a huge problem to pick a location, because I had college exams and a lot of activities with my hardware startup  VisionBot and also other activities in Bucharest. In one, maximum two weeks we will ship our first international unit to United Kingdom. I choose to exhibit in the Cisco Live! Berlin in February because it was just 2 days after all the theoretical exams I had to take.

For the exhibition, I prepared a VisionBot rollup. Initially, I planned to exhibit one live VisionBot machine to our Cisco Live booth, but after some calculations I understood it was not very profitable for us due the fact we had a shared booth with shifts.  Also the logistics to exhibit a such machine are very complex even for a  25 kg machine. Although most of the companies were in the hardware business, the business people were not interested in affordable PnP machines for their companies because they could buy professional and expensive robots and not a 3000 USD PnP machine. Definitely, I would be more than interested and happy to exhibit VisionBot SMT Pick and Place Machines in a maker fair or to an electronic exhibition. Summing up, the Cisco Live Berlin was interesting and the most important lesson I learned at Cisco Live was that if you give something free in your exhibition booth you will have far more interested people asking about your product.
